Linden, April 27 – Dr. Henry R. Shotts, 84, well known resident of this place, died Thursday night at 9:45 at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafaeytte of complications following an injury he received several weeks ago, when he fell and fractured his hip. Dr. Shotts was born near Linden Dec 24, 1849 and for many years taught school in Madison township. Later, he practiced medicine in Jennings County and several years ago retired and came back to Linden to live. His wife, who was Jennie Isabelle Vanarsdall, preceded him in death Oct 21, 1918. Dr. Shotts was the last member of his family. He leaves five nephews and a niece. The body was brought here to the Franklin Funeral Parlors where friends may call until the time of the funeral Sunday morning at 10 o’clock from the Christian Church with Rev. WH Zanor of Darlington officiating. Burial in Linden cemetery. - kbz
